Are Arranged Marriages and Forced Marriages Unethical? Would you consider having your marriage forced or arranged to a person you never met or seen before? Most probably no, but this is happening to many young females and males all over the world. Arranged and forced marriages have been a heated debate in certain cultures, justifying whether it is good or bad itââ¬â¢s hard to judge. There have however also been many changes to these traditions in contemporary society, regarding culture clashing. Researching the facts, I will be looking into the validity of the above statement to find out areââ¬â¢ arranged and forced marriages unethicalââ¬â¢ and if itââ¬â¢s a fallacious statement. In Cambodia, children are expected to repay their gratitude to their parents for finding them suitable partners. Yet arranged marriages are considered a norm in Pakistan and if its proponents are right, then marriages become successful. But Estimates show the percentage of women, who experience domestic violence in Pakistan range from 70 to upwards of 90 percent. In respect of the religion Islam and looking at the facts the female has the right to have a say in marriage proposals she receives. So if by the expression without the marriage been arranged you mean marrying a female without her consent, I would say that Islam does not approve of that, and if it happens, the female has the right to annul the marriage, as we have learned from the hadith. The arranged marriage tends to be patriarchal in power structure: the wife is vested with the responsibilities of children and home, for the husband is responsible for providing and protecting. Even though Islam does not permit arranged and forced marriages, it is still continuing traditionally in Muslim cultures, not for religious reasons.
